PRAYERS TO OUR LADY OF SORROWS
Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Compassion, I turn to you with filial confidence. You shared fully in the work of our Lord Jesus Christ, whose death brought life to the world. Help me now to understand the truth about the divine compassion. Teach me to accept the sufferings that come into my life as you accepted obediently your own deep sorrows. Loving Mother of the Redeemer, you consecrated yourself by submitting to the divine plan. Obtain for me the grace to make my own submission to the same wise providence, now and at the hour of my death. Amen.

OUR STORY
OUR LOVE FOR THE BLESSED MOTHER
Our community started in California from Filipinos born in Lipa City, Batangas, Philippines who have a special love for our Blessed Mother.
On November 2011, the Toronto Chapter was born in response to the invitation from the California community and was founded by Dindo and Martha Mayo. We promote the devotion to Our Blessed Mother in Her title, Our Lady, Mary Mediatrix of All Grace.
On January 2012, we started to bring a statue of the Blessed Mother to families. The family invites their friends and relatives to their homes to pray 2000 Hail Mary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet in one day. This beautiful devotion is composed of 20 petitions. On each petition, 100 Hail Mary is devoutly prayed, a candle is lighted, a flower is offered to our Blessed Mother and a Marian song is sung. The statue of the Blessed Mother remains in the family for a minimum of 35 days before moving to another family. During Her stay, the family prays the rosary daily and consecrate themselves to Our Lady for 33 days.
In 2016, we became a member of the Archdiocesan Filipino Catholic Mission (AFCM) and started the annual celebration through a nine day novena in honour of Our Blessed Mother at the Our Lady of the Assumption (OLA) church in Bathurst St., Toronto.
On September 2017, the late Mr. Dominador Katigbak, and family donated a 4 feet statue of Our Lady, Mary Mediatrix of All Grace from the Philippines to the OLA Church which is the home of the AFCM.
In 2018, we were welcomed by Catholic churches in the Greater Toronto area and in the Kawartha Lakes region to promote the 2000 Hail Mary devotion.
As of 2019, our community has 16 statues that move around houses in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). In 2020, our community started the Consecration to our Spiritual Father, St. Joseph. We have 150 members and are growing every year.
Since 2020, we pray the rosary daily via Zoom. As of 2021, our community prayed more than 1,000,000 Hail Mary.
In 2022, three 4-feet statues were transported from the Philippines. Mama Mary statues were lovingly welcomed by 2 parish priests, Rev Msgr Edgardo Pan at St. Rose of Lima Parish and Rev Fr Walter Tonelotto at St. Catherine of Siena.
2000 Hail Mary is held at 4 churches in GTA namely St. Eugene de Mazenod Church and St. Anne's Parish in Brampton, St. Catherine of Siena Church and St. Francis Xavier Church in Mississauga, and St. Rose of Lima in Scarborough.
Origin of the 2000 Hail Mary
IT WAS IN 1933, I Msgr. Juan Riu Farran, was fifteen and a half years of age: I was studying in the Salesian Seminary of San Vicente of the Horts, near the City of Barcelona.
Around the 25th of March, 1933, one of my Seminary companions, Daniel Ara, of the Province of Huesca, in Aragon, said to me: ” Riu, I have something interesting to tell to you: There is a pious belief that whowever prays two thousand Hail Marys on the 25th of March, the feast of the Incarnation of the Son of God, obtains from the Blessed Virgin Mary, at least three graces.
That information was embedded deeply in my mind, and when the day of the 25th of March arrived, I prayed, with much devotion the Two Thousand Hail Marys, requesting of the Blessed Virgin Mary, THREE GRACES: TO BE SALESIAN, TO BE A PRIEST, AND TO BE A MISSIONARY…and I confidently awaited in the fulfillment of the promise of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
On the 16th of July, 1935, after serving in Holy Mass, my companion Daniel Ara and I, went on a excursion or stroll by the forests and hills, not far from the city of Gerona, where we were doing the Novitiate, in preparation for the Religious Salesian Profession. Towards the middle of the day, when we reunited with our Superiors, who accompanied us in the excursion, communicated to us the sad news that my companion Daniel Ara, when trying to jump a brook, lost his balance and fell into the water and drowned.
On the 17th, a memorable day, at ten o’clock in the morning we began the spiritual Exercises in preparation for the religious Profession, that took place the 27th of July. At that moment, I realized, that the FIRST GRACE requested on the 25 of MARCH, 1933: TO BE SALESIAN was fulfilled.
In July 18th, 1936, the Spanish revolution and persecution exploded, in which we had to leave the Seminary running the risk to be captured and assassinated, as it happened with hundreds of thousands. These were hard and difficult years. The Spanish civil war finally ended on the First of April, 1939, with the defeat of Spanish Communists, by the troops of General Franco, we would be able to return to our Religious Houses to continue our studies in preparation for the priesthood.
ON THE 15TH OF JUNE, 1946, in the Seminary Chapel of Madrid, I was ordained a priest together with TWENTY SALESIAN COMPANIONS, by the Bishop of MADRID, Mons. Leopoldo Eijo and Garay. The SECOND GRACE, requested on the 25th of MARCH, 1933, had been fulfilled.
On the 30th of AUGUST, 1952, I arrived in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to begin my apostolic missionary work in the poorest district of San Juan. And the THIRD GRACE REQUESTED MARCH 25th, 1933, became reality: TO BE A MISSIONARY. After ELEVEN LONG YEARS of missionary work in Puerto Rico, I was invited by Bishop MONS. JOSE FELIX PINTADO, to go to help him in the EASTERN SALESIAN MISSIONS OF ECUADOR, considered like WATERING a DRY TREE, from December 4th, 1964 to the present day, the Blessed VIRGIN Mary had fulfilled her promises.
Today, the DEVOTION OF the TWO THOUSAND HAIL MARYS has spread to many countries, thanks to the Marian devotion and fervor of the PHILIPPINE PEOPLE.
